Monty Hagler: in his own words

Why do you live in Greensboro?

My family moved to Greensboro in 2004 so that I could join Trone Public Relations.  My wife Christian and I are both native North Carolinians, and while we have covered the state between us living in Charlotte, Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Goldsboro, we had never spent much time in Greensboro.  It has proven to be a wonderful community to raise our two daughters and connect with neighbors.  We explored many communities in High Point and Winston-Salem, but once we visited Fisher Park we knew we had found where we wanted to live.

How do you connect to Greensboro?

Since we have only been in Greensboro a year and a half, we are slowly making our connections in the community.  Many of my civic and volunteer commitments have been on a statewide level, educational institutions and professional organizations -- the North Carolina Film Council, Board of Advisors for the Communications Studies Department at UNC-Chapel Hill, Advisory Board, the Public Relations Society of America --and I have learned not to overcommit myself.  However, in the past few months I have been able to get involved locally through the Greensboro Creative Character steering committee and the High Point Chamber marketing committee.

What Action Greensboro initiatives have you been involved in?

Through my agency, Trone Public Relations, I have been able to support initiatives such as the Radical Renewal event downtown, sponsored in part by Action Greensboro.  I am looking forward to more involvement in 2006.
