Get Down! Town

Action Greensboro took steps to reach out to students at the city's six colleges and universities and give them reason to stay after graduation.  About 10,000 college students turned out for the third annual Get Down! Town party held in August 2004.  Sponsors kicked in $41,000 for the event.

Get Down! Town 2006 is coming soon!  On Saturday, September 9, 2006 be a part of the activities!  Learn about the event, see the sponsors, and learn how to get involved - here.

Making Connections Around the Table provides a unique opportunity to enjoy an  evening of good conversation, food and company.   Participants can get to know a little bit more about the  inner workings of the Greensboro community through  monthly dinners coordinated by synerG.

Hosted by Zack Matheny of AG Edwards and Action Greensboro, each dinner program will feature Greensboro "guests of interest" who will talk about their expertise, interests, and thoughts about leadership and community involvement.  This event is $40 per person, and registration is required.

To see who is this month's dinner guest, and to register, go to Action Greensboro's Calendar.

Triad InterNet
Triad InternNet is an internship/co-operative-matching initiative linking employers, students, community colleges, colleges and universities by providing both high-tech and high-touch support with an overarching goal of creating regional economic stability.
Currently, the three proposed components of the Triad InternNet initiative are a web portal matching system, technical assistance that provides personal assistance to employers starting internship/co-operative programs and students seeking experiences, and networking events designed to highlight regional career opportunities and share information about living in the Triad after graduation.

Please Note:  WiFi has been disabled while Center City Park is under construction.  Check back soon for more exciting Greensboro WiFi news.

Thanks to synerG, visitors to Center City Park became wireless in the summer of 2004!  WiFi, or Wireless Fidelity, allows Park users to access the internet for free using their wireless enabled devices.  For a printer-friendly guide to help with setting up your equipment,
go to the CenterG website.

This project was made possible through a grant from the Future Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.

Creative Community
Creative Community was a collaborative effort between Cable 8, synerG, and the Future Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.  The 12-episode television series, which aired during 2004, aimed to educate Guilford County residents about the concept of creativity.  Richard Florida, author of The Rise of the Creative Class, introduced this concept to the nation as an alternative approach to economic development.  Creativity is often the first step toward improving quality of life.  The series sought to highlight creativity that already exists in Greensboro, while exposing some creative surprises.

synerG in the city was an exiting evening of networking, entertainment, food and fun that took place in October 2004 at the Carolina Theater.  This event was a chance for participants to meet leaders of various community organizations, enjoy local entertainment, and sample food from area restaurants.
